SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. —

The final leg of production is underway for a local author’s first feature-length film.

“Still the Water” by Susan Rodgers went to camera on Tuesday for the final part of the movie production on P.E.I. which runs from April 16 until May 4.

The film stars Ry Barrett (“The Final Ride”, “The Demolisher”), Colin Price (“Murdoch Mysteries”, “Disasters at Sea”) and Christina McInulty (“Til Ex Do Us Part”).

“Still the Water” is about a despairing hockey player who returns home to P.E.I., but his reappearance fuels jealousy and the emergence of a long-buried, painful truth.

The film was written, produced and directed by Rodgers.

“This is a story of redemption that will appeal to adult audiences for its tragic tale of the men in a broken family trying to find their way back to each other,” said Rodgers, who is also the well-known author of the popular fiction 15-book “Drifters” series, including “A Song For Josh”, which has been optioned by Producers Sharon Buckingham and Heidi Lasi.

“ ’Still the Water’ weaves together my love for creative writing, music, my home province and, of course, hockey. I can’t wait to share this labour of love with the world.”

The film was shot by Nova Scotia-based cinematographer Christopher Ball, with music supervised and scored by Island musician Chris Corrigan. Music by Catherine MacLellan, Irish Mythen, Nathan Wylie and Lennie Gallant will be part of the film.

"BED OF THE DEAD" REVIEW FROM TORONTO AFTER DARK FILM FESTIVAL

"The cast is well rounded and balance each other out, delivering some subtle and emotional performances. Price does a good job as the alcoholic Virgil who wants to be redeemed in the eyes of his colleagues and, more importantly himself."

"This throwback B movie really succeeds though thanks to the casting and Price and King’s ability to carry the emotional depth of the film"
